At Western, education and collaboration are at the heart of our sustainability efforts. Workinging closely with Western’s Office of Sustainability, Presidents Advisory Committee on the Environment and Sustainability (PACE) and student-led groups such as EnviroUSC, we actively contribute to a campus culture of learning, engagement and collective action. Through programs like Sustainability Workplace Ambassador Program (SWAG), Western Environment and Sustainability Network (WE&SN) and the WISE Case Competition, we empower students and staff to take part in meaningful conversations and solutions for a more sustainable future.

FRESH

Food Resources and Education for Student Health (FRESH), our dietitian-led nutrition education program, promotes food literacy by enhancing students’ knowledge, attitudes and skills around food, with a focus on health and affordable choices. This hands-on approach has already reached over 1,300 students in the 2024-25 academic year.

Cultural Events

We host cultural events on campus and in residence to celebrate diversity, such as Diwali, Lunar New Year, Oktoberfest and International Week, promoting inclusivity and shared experiences through food.

Food Security

Western is committed to ensuring every student has access to nutritious food. Through programs such as food banks, grocery gift cards, and community meal initiatives, we provide essential support while also championing food recovery and waste diversion to make the most of campus resources and help our community thrive.
